Some serious looting

I was going trough my fathers scale model collection. Most of it are aircrafts, but I knew there were something else too. I had the idea of getting my vehicles from that collection, but I got more. In the picture is presented all the crazy things I got. Most models are from the 70's or 80's. I think I have to build couple tanks, helicopters or small aeroplanes just for apocalypse. Here is presented all things I brought back to home:

Russian medium tank T 34, in scale of 1/25
Royal army medium tank Chieftan battle tank, in scale of 1/25
Patton tank, in scale of 1/35
French army medium tank A.M.X.30, in scale of 1/35
US army 155mm 109 Self-propelled Howitzer, in scale of 1/35
Bell Uh 1D Huey Helicopter, in scale of 1/32
Bell HueyCobra Helicopter, in scale of 1/32
Kaman H-43B Huskie helicopter, in scale of 1/32
+ three smaller aircrafts and a Cadillac

First Goff

As it is constantly raining it's good time to paint.
I had some stromboyz around so i decided to test my ork painting skillz. Good and welcome chance after painting army of eldar recently. It came out very dark so photos are bit trick, especially with this cloudy weather. But here are some anyways.
It has quite subtle highlighting and lots of washes and inks, with my favourite "salt rust". Painted on white undercoat.

Snakebites - 'Ere comes the horde

I was the last one to get involved with this project and the only clan still available was the snakebites. That actually fits to me pretty well, since I already have almost 2000 points of orcs and my boys are painted in a way that they can easily represent the 'bites - lot's of brown and grey used in clothing. My vehicles (those that actually are painted) are not too snakebitish, so I decided follow the fluff and leave them out all together. Almost. I have the remnants of an old chaos land raider that I have always wanted to convert into a battlewagon. I think this is the time to start that project. Enough with the talk now, here's the preliminary list:

HQ

Warboss - Klaw, kombi-scorcha, 'eavy armour 95pts
Weirdboy 55pts

Troops

20 Sluggaboyz w Nob + klaw 155pts
30 Sluggaboys w Nob + klaw 215pts
30 Shootaboyz w Nob + klaw 215pts
21 Gretchin w 2 Runtherds 83pts

'Eavy Stuff

Battlewagon w 'ard case, grot riggers 110pts
Zzzapgun w 1 extra grot and ammorunt 36pts
Zzzapgun w 1 extra grot and ammorunt 36pts

Exactly 1000pts

I might do some minor changes to the list to get some big shootas into it, but this is the core anyway. Battlewagon is purely for transport and I didn't want to slow it down with weapons, because I suspect it'll draw lots of fire go kaput early in the game.

ps. Still thinkin the for the name of the clan. It will propably have something to do with the bigger more brutal snakes than with the weak and unmanly poisonous ones.

Bad Moons

Name of my tribe will be Yellow Bastards, first things first you know. Army will be painted black and yellow. I will build most of the vehicles by myself and include lots of conversion work. That way I can maintain the unique feeling of my army.

Army will include these units:

Warboss in mega armour
5 Meganobs in trukk
20 Boyz
3 dethkoptas
Skorchabuggy
Deffdread
2 Killakans
5 Flashgitz

My troops fit into 3 gategories. Meganobs + Warboss in trukk, buggy and dethkoptas are the fast moving part, Boyz and Flashgitz are slow moving sturdy group and Killa kans and the Dread is the hardhitting walkers. Main part of the army will be slow but I have some manoeuvrebility there too. I hope theres enough Bad Moon spirit left that the enemy will feel who are the Yellow Bastards.

Evil Sunz

I have always wanted to do an Ork army on bikes called Da Green Banditoz.
So now is my change to do it.
Here is my list:

HQ
Warboss – warbike, shoota-skorcha, klaw, cybork, squig 155

Warboss – warbike, shoota-skorcha, klaw, cybork, squig 155

Troops
5 Nob Bikerz – 2 klaws, Painboy, cybork 355

5 Nob Bikerz – klaw, shoota-skorcha, Painboy, cybork 335

Total: 1000

Thats only 12 models so should be able to paint them in time.
I'll make them using the new bikes and nobs. It's not a cheap way to do it, but at least it will look good. Hopefully.

Goffs

I decided that I'll do my Goffs in ww2 German theme. This means basicly german styled helmets for the boyz and big halftrak for the battlewagon and looted wagon Da Tiga. I have some orks left from here and there (killakan, stormboyz and one nob) and I based my force around them. List will be approx:

Warboss
6 Nobs
Battlewagon
2 mobs of ~15 sluggaboyz
~15 stormboyz
killakan(?)
Looted wagon with 'ard top and boomgun.

Might just take ordinary truk (half trak) for the nobz to get more numbers, mobs of 15 doesn't sound very solid for my ear.

Start of the Project

We never had too many ork players in our group. Only couple and even then they didn't get too much time on the gaming table. We had been talking for a while to make an army for apocalypse together. First we talked about making armies for all chaos gods, then there were something hissing about more lojalist marines, but finally, I think it's pretty obvious now, we hit the jackpot.... we should make an Ork army together. It's actually damn good idea because nobody didn't want to paint 200 (or even more) ork figures. So the idea was to split up the job. Everybody would make a small part of the army that would make a great army when put together. So actually that's where this project starts.

First rule was to decide size of the armies. Everybody agreed that 1000 points is big enough for one person. It should include HQ choice, hopefully an Warboss. Every force should also be made in legal manners using the force organisation chart. After we decided to make all clans we agreed that armies should be roughly the style of the clan you were building. So no too much mekanik stuff for Goffs or hordes for Evil Sunz etc.

Because there is 7 persons taking a part in this project we decided to do include all the clans. We have one left over and he will be a Freebooter. It was fairly easy to decide who is who. Here are the makers of the clans:

Goffs – Jamo
Evil Sunz – Halonen
Bad Moons – Lauri
Snakebites – Kareinen
Blood Axes- Matti
Deathskulls -Natunen
Freebooter - Simo

Everybody will update the blog on their own as their projects go on. Most of the work will start on january 2010 but we'll hope to see some progress before that.

Project is continuing until december 2010 when we are having the final battle against Chaos. Armies will be about 10,000 points in size and should include some big machines too. You'll wait will be rewarded with pictures and reports from the final mayhem.

Hmm.... what's this?

You are propably wondering what is Lepralegioona. Well, it's our old gaming group when we still lived in the same town. Lepra comes from the nickname of the town we used to live in, Lappeenranta, and legioona is of course Finnish version of the word legion. So we are the Legion of Lappeenranta if you may. Ah, and this Lappeenranta is located in eastern Finland.

Well, we still have gaming sessions together, but not as reguarly. We play mainly 40k but Fantasy Battle and other boardgames also get playing time. One of the main events for every year is a big apocalypse fight what we call Epicalypse. It's held usually just after christmas. That time of year we can get all of our friends together and fight some mean-ass battles. Usually it's not only gaming but spending time together, having sauna and mayby refreshening some old rivalries. You can guess that every year we have new projects or old ones to talk about. Usually they are huge because everybody wants to play apocalypse battles with them. It's one of these events that started this project...
